It is always awe-inspiring to be in the same room with our beloved Mayor Sylvester Turner. Noemi Frias and Loloy Reyes together with the men and women of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston - F A C C G H remain grateful for all the help, encouragement, and support. When people, fellow Filipinos, turned their backs on us as we were pushing for the reopening of the Philippine Consulate here in Houston, it was our Mayor, the Consular Corps of Houston, and Houston’s Sister Cities that encouraged us and supported us to keep going. It was 2016 when our Mayor promised that he will help in any way possible especially in improving trade between the Philippines and Houston. Now everything is history. We moved on. We continue to open doors, we help build bridges. We remain grateful. Indeed, Mayor Turner will go down in history as one of the greatest mayors this city has ever known. And I personally owe him a debt of gratitude. Leadership is not for the faint-hearted. But when emerging leaders are mentored by great leaders, every good thing is possible. Mabuhay!
